About this place

Added by Thomas Burton

Eagle Falls & Eagle Lake Loop is a short, 2-mile roundtrip hike with a payoff that's easily worth the trek. The views from the top are stunning for the distance you travel. Bring your camera, you'll be glad you did. In the winter, bring trekking poles and crampons if you have them.

Eagle Falls Trail is located off Highway 89 and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in California. Eagle Falls is one of the most popular short hikes in Lake Tahoe because of its beautiful cascading waterfalls, lush green scenery, and trees. Alongside one of the bluest pristine lakes in California, hikers on Eagle Falls will see the delightful sights of cascading waterfalls, lush green mountain scenery, and tall pine trees. Year-round Eagle Falls Trail offers hikers an unforgettable outdoor experience filled with breathtaking views. This hike is a great option for those who may be short on time or are not ready for a strenuous hike but still want to see Tahoe's magnificent terrain. The Eagle Falls hike is approximately two miles round trip from the trailhead and can be completed under an hour depending on the pace of the hiker.

If you want a more direct out-and-back head directly to the lake via Eagle Lake Trail

If you're hiking to these falls during the winter, you're in for a treat with snow the surrounding the falls - but, be careful. A large part of the hike to the falls is in the shade, so you'll want to bring trekking poles if you have them.

Great Waterfall
Nice and strong waterfalls. I consider it a must see in South Lake Tahoe. Path up can be very icy and slippery in winter.
