Climb Peep Sight Peak in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness

Peep Sight Peak in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness off Highway 4 provides solitude and wonderful views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada including the Mokelumnee and Emigrant Wildernesses. Even on summer weekends you'll likely have the peak and surrounding area all to yourself.

Peep Sight Peak can be done as a straightforward day hike, often times in conjunction with the nearby Lookout, Henry, and Bull Run Peaks as a loop beginning at the Pacific Valley Trailhead.

To read the Pacific Valley Trailhead, take Highway 4 past Lake Alpine. Once you cross over the Pacific Grade Summit and begin to descend, the Pacific Valley Road will be on your right.

As you head down the trail, Lookout Peak is immediately to the left (East) and Peep Sight is farther down the trail i.e. up Marshall Canyon. You can either head up the canyon about 1.7 miles and then going NE up to Willow Flat (between Lookout and Peep Sight) and then SE to Peep Sight for a total distance of 3.5 or head for the saddle between Henry Peak and Peep Sight for a slightly longer route. 

The easiest way to gain the summit is to head to the SE side of Peep Sight, though the arch from which is gets its name is on the NW side.
