Northshore Campground

The name of the campground, Northshore Campground, speaks for itself. It's located on the northern side of Lake Britton, across the water from the main state park camping area. This is nice for us as it's easier to get a spot, and it's much quieter. Campground Reservations

It's a PG&E campground, so we were able to take the dogs with us and let them hang out and swim with us.

It's an easy drive around to the other side of the lake if you want to go see Burney Falls. The falls are just down a long set of switchback stairs and a paved pathway down to the water below. Best to get there early in the morning or later in the day as it gets SUPER busy being right off the road.

You can also hike in from the campgrounds. We paddled around the point of the main campground and up the finger of the lake until we found a good spot to drop the paddle boards and climb up to the trail. It's a nice hike through the trees and along the water. 

You can swim in the water at the base of the falls. But it was 42 degrees when we were there for the fourth of July. Don't say I didn't warn ya! Oh, also the air down at the base of the falls is chilly. With all the spray and a lack of sun, dress warm if you're going to go early!

Directions from Hwy. 89, 9.7 miles north of the junction with Hwy. 299, turn west onto Clark Creek Road, drive 0.9 miles, turn left, go 1 mile.
