About this place

Added by Lucas Bremer

Kentucky's Lost River Cave is an outdoor lover's paradise, but it was once the first "Air Conditioned" Nightclub, Saw Mill, and Civil War Camp.

In the last 200 years, Lost River Cave has been used as a site for mills, a camp for Civil War soldiers, and a nightclub. Its history goes back many years before that—thousands in fact. Prehistoric nomadic Native American tribes used the cave for shelter and water as they hunted this valley.

The cave is in fact 7 miles in length, and a river begins just outside its entrance from an underground spring and runs through most of the cave. Boat tours through the cave are very popular. This is the only underground boat tour in the state of Kentucky. There are also special excursions, such as kayaking in the cave.

Plan to spend about 45 minutes to an hour walking to the cave and boating through it. There are also a couple of miles of hiking trails in this valley along with several ziplines. All tour tickets can be purchased online Lost River Cave.
