Paducah's history is rich. Plotted and named by William Clark of Lewis Clark Fame in 1827. A significant river port, Paducah grew tremendously during the 1800's. General Ulysses S. Grant occupied Paducah during the early part of the Civil War. Paducah is also listed as a stop on the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail. Today, Paducah is one of 9 UNESCO Creative Cities in the United States for crafts and folk art. The National Quilt Museum is also located on the Paducah Riverfront.
