Why You Should Explore Schwabacher Landing in the Winter

A few photographers were in Jackson Hole last year and wanted to visit Grand Teton National Park in the snowy conditions. We decided to head over to one of the most famous spots in the world at Schwabacher Landing. 

The road down to Schwabacher Landing is closed once the snow piles in so you have to hike down to the parking lot. Make sure to bring snowshoes or cross country skis. It's a pretty good hike, so make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks while you're exploring the area and also don't come alone. Make sure to have a buddy. 

Once we made it down to the water area, the Tetons were covered in clouds, and they did not appear again until about 5 hours later. The Tetons are very hit or miss during the winter months, so don't try this on a very cloudy day if you want to see the Tetons.

We waited here for several hours until sunset and enjoyed these amazing views I shared above. I was even fortunate enough to have this beaver photobomb the scene right at sunset.
