About this place

Added by Sara Sheehy

This short but scenic hike leads to a waterfall nestled into bedrock. Extend your stay by camping in one of the large, dispersed campsites at the trailhead.

Access the trailhead for Big Fall Creek Falls via Trail Creek Road. From Sun Valley the road is typically passable for sedans but is prone to producing flat tires. The parking area doubles as dispersed, free camping.

Start the hike by crossing the creek on the log bridge. With the creek on your right, follow the well-worn path up to the falls.

Seeing the falls requires a water crossing without a bridge about a 1/4 mile in. Be careful in spring, otherwise, the crossing is not an issue.

The falls run highest in spring as the snow melts.

Explore the area around the falls before tracing your route back to the parking area.

Note: Trail Creek Road is closed early October to late May.
