About this place

Added by CampCo

Spend the day fly fishing in one of the most idyllic spots in the country: Stanley, Idaho.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Sawtooth Wildwerness, there are endless opportunities and spots to cast off. Valley Creek, a tributary of the famous Salmon River, snakes it’s way through the land just outside of the town of Stanley. It offers jaw-dropping views in all directions, and a teaming opportunity for fishing year round at your feet.

From town, turn onto 75 N until you reach Sawtooth Terra Tracts Rd.  There is a small dirt parking lot on the left side about 0.3 miles down. This gives you access to the wooden walking bridge to cross over, or just head straight into the water wherever you see fit. Depending on the time of year and flow, there are loads of spots to choose from that would make for a prime spot.

Just upstream from the bridge, you can catch a glimpse of the Mountain Village Lodge hot spring set in an old barn up against the streams edge. Access to this spring is limited to the public, but you can check with the front desk for openings by calling 1-800-843-5475.

The location of Valley Creek being just on the outskirts of town and easy accessibility, it makes for a super convenient spot to grab a quick session. For info on Bag limits and recommended game fish, visit the Idaho Department of Fish and Game website: here
