UTV Adventure in Island Park

Tucked between Yellowstone and the Grand Teton National Parks sits Island Park, Idaho – and the best way to experience it is getting thrown around the inside of an UTV, kicking up dust, cranking corners and cruising the land.

There are multiple vendors in town that offer rentals, and they will usually provide a map or trail suggestions. One of the most reputable companies is High Mountain Adventures. All of their vehicles are equipped with GPS and very well maintained, and the staff is incredibly helpful and eager to point out good trails and adventure suggestions.

All rentals are for the entire day, so you can cater your adventure around your own time table. It’s best to get an early start and make an entire day of it as there are hundreds of miles of trails and areas to explore. Always use caution with these vehicles. As fun as they are, they are equally as dangerous, so make sure to wear proper safety gear and go easy at first.

The area is riddled with multiple types of terrain that include long, narrow trails that weave under tree canopies, soft dirt berms and jumps, and gorgeous wooden bridges that pass over kayakers and the crystal clear streams below. Keep an eye out as you get away from the roads and into the more isolated area for wildlife, namely moose. The vehicles can also be driven on the road, allowing you to gain access to many different areas, and also to stop in town to grab some food.
