Explore Svinafellsjokull

Look for the point of interest sign to Svinafellsjokull several minutes past the exit for Skaftafell National Park. Drive down the dirt road for approximately 5 minutes before reaching the parking lot.  From the parking lot there is a clearly marked trail towards the view point.  The walk to the main view point is only several minutes however you can chose to continue up the side of the mountain to your left.  This area is fairly rocky and there is lots of scree so it is important to be cautious as a fall here could mean a fall into the glacial lake.  There are a couple faint trails leading this way so you can follow whichever appears the easiest to you!
