About this place

Added by Lauren Schusterman

Stunning glacial lagoon right before the more popular, Jokulsarlon.  You'll have an opportunity to get some beautiful views and photographs with a chance for a bit of isolation.

From the parking lot follow the well marked path down to the lagoon.  You will walk slightly uphill for a few minutes and then continue on the fairly flat trail until you reach a view point of the lagoon.  From here you can continue down to the shoreline to get some more up close views. Stay on the marked trails through this area to help with vegetation preservation.  Once on the beach you can walk the length of the lagoon if desired.   There are definitely a good amount of people who visit this lagoon however the numbers are significantly smaller than Jokulsarlon which affords you an opportunity to find a point right next to the lagoon without being surrounded by crowds.

Theres the option to go on a guided zodiac boat tour of the lagoon for around $54 USD.

Nice
This is generally a very nice glacial lake. Though I insist on considering Jokulsarlon to be superior. It is better to visit during sunset
