This is a must do if you plan on spending any time in Þórsmörk. It is a relatively short hike and you are treated to panoramic views of the entire Þórsmörk valley.
The hike starts at the volcano huts in Þórsmörk, you head northeast on the main trail. Signs along the way will lead you all the way to the summit. it is about 1.5 miles one way. At the summit the view is incredible. Sprawling out in every direction are glaciers, volcanoes, moss carpeted cliffs, and braided glacial rivers. The mighty Eyjafjallajokull volcano rises thousands of feet to the south, as the huge Myrdalsjokull volcano takes up most of the horizon to the east. The green mountains and cliffs stand in surreal contrast to the glaciers and rivers below. In Iceland spectacular views are commonplace, but this stood out to me as one of the most incredible.
