Escape the crowds and enjoy a moderate hike up to a small mountain lake; you might even see an arctic fox on the way (we did!).
The trailhead begins from the campsite next to Hotel Flokalundur, towards the back where the small wooden ladder assists you over the fence. Alternatively, you may start from the Hotel Flokalundur by following the path to the left of the parking lot.
The trail initially ascends approx 1000 ft in a steep climb through grassy terrain and then levels off to a slower, steadier climb over a rocky terrain. The trail is relatively easy to follow and marked by wooden sticks with painted red tops. The last half mile is a flat hike across rocky and mossy terrain leading to the lake.
You will not have to ford any rivers and we did not encounter any snow.
