About this place

Hike above the Kalalua Valley on this unofficial and unmarked trail.

Kalepa Ridge is a narrow, unofficial trail that starts at the Kalalau Lookout in Koke'e State Park.

To get to the trailhead, drive to the popular Kalalau Valley Lookout near the end of highway 550 in Koke'e State Park. Look toward the left (ocean side) of the parking lot where you'll see the unmarked start of the trail near a break in the fence.

The trail starts through the brush with a steep decline, so it's a good idea to have hiking poles and a good pair of shoes or boots. Eventually, you'll follow the ridge line with incredible views of the Kalalau Valley to your right.

Kalepa Ridge is unmaintained, steep, and can be dangerous, especially when wet. Turn back if conditions are not right or if it is beyond your hiking ability.
