Hike to Martin Creek Falls

There are two different ways to get to this waterfall.

The easiest way is through a trail in the Warwoman Wildlife Management Area. To get to this trail head, drive east on Warwoman Road from Clayton, GA. At approximately 3.5 miles, take a left onto Finney Creek Road (FS 152). You will see a sign that marks the wildlife management area. Continue past the checking station and about 0.5 miles, there will be a camping spot at a sharp bend to the left. Park here.

The trail begins past the campgrounds. Near the beginning of the trail, you will cross Martin Creek. There are two possible crossings which can be confusing. Follow the trail marked by ribbons on the trees. Continue uphill on this trail for about half a mile before reaching Martin Creek Falls.

The waterfall has a wooden overlook deck to view and photograph from. There is also a trail on the right side of the waterfall that leads to the pool at the base of the falls. Here you can check out the neat tiers that are covered in moss and play with the salamanders that swim around in the circular indents located there. Part of the pool that the waterfall flows into is very shallow, so walking around and splashing in the waters is a great way to cool off.

During the late spring and summer seasons, Spring and Summer Azure butterflies flutter around in abundance at this waterfall. So this place can feel pretty magical.

The other way to reach this waterfall is by taking the trail to Becky Branch Falls and hiking several miles on the Bartram Trail.
