About this place

Added by Kelley Le

A beautiful hike with several waterfalls, located in the heart of Georgia.

Parking areas are on the opposite side of the road where the trailhead is located and the fee is $5. If paying for parking isn't in your agenda, there is a gas station down the road on the same side as the trailhead where free parking is occasionally available.

The trail begins off High Falls road, indicated by a sign. At the beginning, the trail descends along several wooden stairs. There are overlooks you can stop at to view the falls from above.

At the base of the stairs, there is a sandy shore with a great view of High Falls. Here you can stop to splash around and wade in the waters. There's a section at the base of the falls where the current from the waterfall and the formation of rocks is perfect as a water slide.

The trail continues on to several other views of the Towaliga River and through the forested areas alongside the river. The trail then loops back towards High Falls and back up the stairs to return to the trailhead.

For more, head back to the opposite side of the road where parking is located. This is the rest of the park with a view of the dam, picnic tables, grills, fields for frisbee, camping areas, and more.

If you want to make this an overnight adventure, High Falls has 100 campsites and 6 yurts to book. Make your reservation here: http://gastateparks.org/HighFalls.
