About this place

Added by Outbound

The Augusta Riverwalk is arguably Augusta’s finest outdoor attraction, second only to the Masters.

Beginning at the 5th Street Marina, the Riverwalk is two tiered with an upper level and a lower level, closer to the river itself. As you walk north, you’ll reach the 8th street plaza and bulkhead which is home to the Saturday morning market and the famous fountain along the brick-lined road to the bulkhead. The small pavilion at the bulkhead is often home to mini concerts and pop-up shows along with an expansive view of the Savannah River. As you walk further north, you’ll reach the Jessye Norman Amphitheater at the end of the 9th street Plaza, which boasts a 1800 seat venue overlooking the Savannah River. Famous bands have played here such as: Jason Mraz, Trampled by Turtles, and Jason Isbell. As you walk further along the Riverwalk you will encounter Japanese Gardens, fountains, and more views of the Savannah River including: Heroes Overlook. In between 4th and 5th streets, the Highway 78 bridge offers a gorgeous view of the Savannah River at Sunset with large sidewalks on either side and gorgeous views of the marina. The Augusta Riverwalk is always open, though most events are scheduled in the evenings! Take a walk!
