Two miles of nearly 1000' deep canyon will take your breath away. The staggeringly steep walls of the gorge, bursting with a variety native trees, coalesce at the roaring and grounding Tallulah River.
Tallulah Gorge is a must-see feature of Georgia. Campers can lay low and experience the gorge from its floor, engaging in river activities such as kayaking or swimming. Those seeking a thrill can hike the rim trails of the gorge, and even cross an 80' high suspension bridge. (Hikers who may be fearful of crossing the bridge can gain some perspective upon learning that Karl Wallenda walked across this gorge on a tightrope.)
Rock climbing is a popular activity in the gorge, but climbers should check in at the park website as climbing is prohibited for parts of the year due to falcon nesting.
Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy the variety of plants and animals in the park, some of them rare, protected species. An interpretive center rounds out the trip with historical knowledge and engaging programs.
