This is a fun and scenic bike loop through Clearwater Beach, just outside of downtown Tampa. There is something for everyone: beaches, bridges, ocean views, and wildlife. You can be as leisurely or as fitness-oriented as you wish.
We started near the Bellair Golf Course and went south. When you go along the golf course, watch for pikas, coyotes, and fox.
It is a good idea to head South first, so that the winds propel you forward in the second half of your ride. We went down Indian Rocks Road and rode by the ocean - the neighborhoods are nice to ride through and keep you off the busier streets. When you hit W Bay Dr., you've come to the first bridge. The bike lane is nice and wide! Watch for dolphins, sting rays, turtles, pelicans, storks, blue heron, snowy egrets, and the pink roseate spoonbill.
Once you get across head back north towards Clearwater Beach and you'll cross over your second bridge. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and beach access points to stop at. You'll get to a roundabout which indicates you've come to your final bridge! Cross over and head south towards Bellair and your starting point.
