A beautiful array of trees, flowers, and Andean cultivation united in one sensory stimulating area.
At the very south of Loja, on the road to Vilcabamba, is Jardín Botánico Reinaldo Espinosa. "Garden" is too calm of a word to describe this botanical sanctuary. It is full of native and exotic plant species only generally organized into an Arboretum, Andean Cultivation, Medicinal plants, an Orchid garden, Xerophytic plants, and a picnic area. While there is a main path that surrounds the entire garden, the only way to see everything is to wander off of it.
Spotted with benches and stone fountains, this garden is a lovely place to stay and enjoy a picnic or just sit and listen to the wind moving through the Pine and Eucalyptus trees.
Nearly empty during the week, this perfect family spot is the place to be on Sunday afternoons.
