About this place

Added by Efrén Avilés

El Cajas is one of the most popular and beautiful national parks in Ecuador. As it is one of the highest moors in the country, camping in El Cajas is an extreme and fulfilling experiences.

Cajas National Park is located 20.5 miles from Cuenca, and its main point of interest is the Toreadora lagoon, where an important infrastructure was developed according to the needs of the park, buildings such as the visitor center, the biological and archaeological museums, bar and cafeteria and information offices can be found.

Due to the 12949 feet high in the camping site, layers is key. Don´t take wind, cold, rain and lack of oxygen to breath for granted. If you´re lucky you might find clear skies for stargazing.

As El Cajas is a RAMSAR site, is one of the best places in Ecuador where you can spot many species of migrating birds, don't forget to bring a nice camera and lens.
