Hike around the northernmost natural stand of baldcypress trees in the U.S., and take in the beauty of Trap Pond State Park on the Bob Trail.
In 1951, Trap Pond State Park became one of Delaware's first state parks. Today, the pond is home to the northernmost natural stand of baldcypress trees in the country, and the Bob Trail is an excellent hike that will give you a great overview of this gorgeous state park.
The 4.5 miles Bob Trail links the Baldcypress Nature Center, the campground, and the park office while offering stunning views of the baldcypress trees and surrounding wetlands as you hike around the pond's edge. Trap Pond is also a popular location for birding, and you can often spot warblers, kingfishers, geese, herons, and other species as you make your way through the trail.
Park at the Baldcypress Nature Center and catch the nearby trailhead for the Bob Trail. The loop will take you around the pond, through the campground, and finally back to the nature center.
