Watch a beautiful sunset. Picnic tables. Something to get you out of the city. Located in Cedar Hill State Park ($6 Entrance Fee/ Free with TX State Parks Pass). Slowing your life down for the evening.
Cedar Hill State Park and Joe Pool Lake are located just outside of Downtown Dallas. While Joe Pool Lake has many access points, I prefer the picnic area I marked on the map. From this side of the lake you can watch the sunset drastically over a completely flat horizon, and if there are clouds you can witness a beautiful display of color across the water.
It's pretty hot in the summer, but on a cool spring or fall evening this is a perfect place to spend the afternoon. Whether you want an escape from the city or you're looking for a romantic spot, this is perfect.
So if you live near Dallas, pack up your work things, stuff a cooler with food and beer and escape for the evening to watch the sunset over Joe Pool Lake.
