About this place

Added by Chandler Anderson

A scenic trail that offers several vistas, wildflowers and wildlife. You will also hike on the Appalachian Trail for a portion of the hike.

The Pine Knob loop is a 2.5 mile loop trail that takes you through beautiful thick  woods filled with vistas, wild flowers and tons of wild life.  You will start your adventure at the Pine Knob Trail head where you will be able to a Connecticut Appalachian trail guide.

Pine Knob is a blue blaze trail, from the trail head i recommend  continuing your adventure by following right onto the blue blaze. You'll notice the hike start to gradually incline. The hike does become strenuous at certain points but for the average hiker you should be able hike right up.  Along the hike there are 3 main scenic vistas where you will see the tumbling hills of North West valley Connecticut. A portion of your adventure will be on the Appalachian Trail ( White Blaze Trail) you will notice the trees will be marked (Blue/Blue) and (White/White)  keep in mind just make sure you're always paying attention to your trail markers.  As you're coming closer to finishing the Pine Knob Loop you will notice Hatch brook flowing along the trail. Hatch brook is full of Cascades that will catch the hikers eye.

Other activities that are offered at Housatonic Meadows State Park is camping, rafting and great fishing along the Houstonic River.
