Snowshoe this beautiful 7-mile winter trail that offers views of the Rawah Wilderness and ends at above tree-line bowls that are generally used for telemark skiing. This is a great option for a scenic winter hike!
To reach the Sawmill Creek Trailhead you have to park at the Blue Lake Trailhead parking lot located across from Long Draw Road (Rd 156) Turn-off. Once you park here you'll see a big sign for the Blue Lake Trail but you'll have to continue following the road up (Southwest) for about 100 yards until you find the Sawmill Creek Trailhead. From here you will start snowshoeing along an old logging road through the pined forest for 1.5 miles until you reach a fork in the trail. In order to reach the bowls you will need to continue left for another 2 miles. It's worth the extra effort to make it to the bowls even if you aren't skiing because it's a breathtaking view. It's also important to note that this can be an avalanche area, though usually a very safe route it never hurts to take extra precaution.
