Royal Gorge Bridge

The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is located in Canon City which is about an hour outside Colorado Springs. Once you get there, it's a $26 entrance fee per person. The park is dog and family friendly.

You can walk across the bridge, take the gondola, or zip line across. Taking the gondola and of course walking is included in the entrance fee but the zipline is extra. If you're going to take the gondola, it's best to take it first to the other side of the gorge so you can walk down a hill and then across the bridge back. This is what we did and glad because otherwise you'd be taking a good hike uphill to get to the gondola. The bridge is wide and feels safe (and I'm afraid of heights). Along the bridge you'll find flags from each state in the U.S. and if you can look down you'll sometimes see people rafting and kayaking down the river.  There's even people slack-lining across the gorge in the narrower parts! Another thrilling attraction is the skycoaster which swings you over the gorge and of course is an extra fee. 

After exploring the Royal Gorge you can take a hike or drive to a few scenic spots. As you're leaving the gorge and driving on 3A, you'll notice a road (381B) across from a picnic area. Next to this road is the trailhead for the Royal Gorge Trail which is a 3.3 mile out and back trail. If you don't want to do the hike, just drive up the road up and there will be some scenics spots for you to get out and take in the view.
