About this place

Added by Kerry Dunn

Rabbit Valley provides more than enough fun without the crowds. Enjoy spectacular vistas along the Western Rim Trail and explore petroglyphs along Mac. Donald Trail. This area is high desert at its best!

This area is one of my favorites. Rabbit Valley is a great place with all kinds of activities available. Mainly we mountain bike here, but we have hiked and explored the canyons as well. There are traces of Native Americans that lived in the area hundreds of years ago, even a small arch too.

From exit 2 on I-70 in Colorado go south to the MacDonald Trailhead, to any of the multiple campsites or other THs to park your vehicle. The trails spider out from the exit off the interstate into Utah and back to Fruita. It is highly recommended to hit up any of the local bike shops or outdoor gear shops in Grand Junction or Fruita Colorado for maps, area, and trail info. It is roughly 17 miles from Fruita, 2 miles from the border of Utah.

There are no amenities out here so be smart, pack what you need for what your plans are. Camping is primitive, but there are spots available for tents and travel trailers.
