Summit this (barley) 14er with relative ease and enjoy the beautiful view from the summit. There is no paved roads in view from the top. Though this 14er is just over 14,000 feet the scenery will not disappoint. Well maintained trails make for a straight forward, non-technical summit.
There are some dispersed campsites along side the 4x4 road that leads to the trailhead. Ideally you can sleep here to get an early start to your hike in the morning, to avoid the afternoon storms that frequent the mountains. The 4x4 is rough in spots, though my Subaru Outback did make the trek unscathed, you may have to walk the road if you have a smaller car.
From the trailhead you take gradual switchbacks up above the tree line to a beautiful meadow before you begin to go back to the switchbacks up the mountain to the summit.
The trail is simple and the hike is pretty short making this a great 14er do start with. The traffic on the trail is also not too heavy allowing you to enjoy nature a little bit more.
Enjoy the hike!
