About this place

Added by Matthew Eaton

Mount Flora offers a family-friendly hike with amazing views of Colorado's Rocky Mountains in Arapaho National Forest.

Colorado’s Rocky Mountains offer hikes of all lengths, sizes and difficulties. Mt. Flora stands at a lofty 13,146 ft and is a great intro to climbing peaks in Colorado. Roundtrip, this hike is 6.3 miles and will take you (in the summer) through fields of alpine wildflowers as you climb into Colorado’s high country along the Continental Divide Trail (CDT).

You’ll start out on switchbacks on an old dirt road to climb steeply before reaching a junction with the CDT where you will leave the road and begin an ascending traverse on conventional trail through the tundra. Be sure to listen closely and keep a close eye on your daypack while you snack as there are many marmots in the area that will be happy to steal your goods.

The total round-trip elevation gain on this hike is ~2,200ft.
