Mayflower Gulch Grand Traverse is an moderate hike to the Boston Mine site and continuing on the offshoot trails. There are also great camping spots.
Getting to the Mayflower Gulch is pretty easy. In the summer months, if you have a high clearance 4WD vehicle, you can drive up to the Boston Mine. This will take 2-miles each way off your hike.
If you're looking to stretch your legs, start your hike at the Mayflower Gulch Trailhead off of Highway 91 just north of Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir. After two miles on the hike, you'll reach the Old Boston mining site. Note, Boston Mine is also a popular destination in the winter as a snowshoeing adventure.
To continue the traverse, there are two offshoots past the Old Boston site, which offer great views and 2-miles roundtrip of extra mileage. For the full Mayflower Gulch Grand Traverse experience, it's recommended to add these legs to your adventure.
