About this place

Added by Josiah Roe

Fantastic views of The Red Mountain Open Space and its 1.8 billion years of geological history including canyons, bluffs, waterfalls, meadows, and an abandoned homestead.

The K-Lynn Trail is a 2.4 mile loop trail that goes west off of the Ruby Wash Trail on the western side of the Red Mountain Open Space. To get there, take the Bent Rock Trail from the Red Mountain Open Space parking lot where the Red Canyon / Antelope Valley road dead-ends.

Once on the Bent Rock Trail, go 0.9 miles till it connects with the Ruby Wash trail. Be sure to stay to the right as the main Bent Rock loop forks left and two points.

Once on the Ruby Wash Trail, go .3 miles (through a gate) till you see the sign marking the beginning of the K-Lynn Trail to the left. The trail proceeds up on the western hills of the Open Space affording fantastic views of The Big Hole and of Table Mountain to the south east. Eventually the trail will cut back east and down into the canyon, following a stream until is reaches the old Goodwin Family Homestead.

Take the trail until it crosses the Ruby Wash to connect with the Ruby Wash Trail. Go right onto the Ruby Wash Trail and then left onto the Bent Rock trail for 1.4 miles back to the trailhead.

Total trip distance from the park lot and back is 5.4 miles.
