This 6 mile loop takes you through beautiful Golden Gate Canyon State Park. At about midway around the loop take in the beautiful fall aspens in Frazer Meadow.
Start the hike at the Blue Grouse Trailhead located next to Kriley Pond. Travel along Blue Grouse Trail for 0.7 miles until you reach a fork in the trail at Mule Trail where you will take a right. Along the Mule Trail you will travel up a series of switch backs before the trail levels out and you pass the Rim Meadow first on your right. Continue along Mule Trail until you reach Coyote Trail and move along to your left until you reach Frazer Meadow. It is here you can make the decision to return along the trail you came, however if you'd like to add more mileage continue along Coyote Trail until you reach Bootleg Bottom. The section between the meadow and Bootleg Bottom offers some incredible views of the distant mountains and fall foliage sprinkled among the pines. Once you reach Bootleg Bottom the trail will turn back into the Mule Trail and cross over the main road. The trail follows a small stream until it reaches Old Barn Knoll where you will switch to the Blue Grouse Trail back to the trailhead.
Please remember to pay the $7 entrance fee for the State Park!
