A wonderfully scenic hike between Frisco & Vail, crossing 2 mountain passes & meandering through dense forested valleys blanketed with high alpine wildflowers if you time it right :-)
Starting at the Meadow Creek Trail head just off the turn off to Frisco this hike connects the stunning Eccles Pass and Gore Creek trails.
Passing over Eccles Pass (11,917') and Red Buffalo Pass (11,742') this spectacular hike passes through dense forest, serene lakes and bubbling creeks.
The Vail side of the hike is steeper and more rugged, crossing streams & lush meadows deep in the valley on your way to the Gore Creek Trailhead.
Spring in this region of the Eaglesnest Wilderness rewards hillsides blanketed in stunning wildflowers flanked by snow dusted peaks.
Dispersed camping means you can find serenity if you seek it, camping near the pass allows for early morning sunrise photography if thats your thing.
