With just over a two hour drive from Boulder, you can beat the Colorado summer heat by camping, fishing, sun bathing and more on a pontoon boat or just frolicking in the water.
If a nice relaxing adventure is what you seek, this is the place for you. There aren't a lot of super scenic, adrenaline pumping hikes at this campground, but there are well established campsites with beautiful sunrise and sunset views. If you're a photographer, the midnight sky on a moonless night is a dream come true. The fish are biting year round, so whether you're there to ice fish in the winter time or fish in the summer time, bring your worms and your rods.
There are several different loops to this campground and a couple huge group sites separated from the individual sites. The bathrooms are kept pretty clean, don't be fooled, they are still pit toilets. Each site comes with a picnic table and a fire ring, if you get there early enough or reserve your spot, you'll find a site with a shelter to help protect you from the sun. There are no trees for hammocks, but you can attach the hammock to the pillars of the shelter and pretend they're trees.
This is a super dog friendly campground, the only two rules are to keep your dog leashed and to pick up after their messes. There is even a dog walking area, which is pretty convenient.
Bring your families, your pets, your friends and their friends, and be ready to relax the days away. For your convenience, there is even a place to rent boats, canoes, tubes, jet skis and other water activities.
NOTE: Keep an eye on the winds, the gusts can get pretty brutal and even blow your tent away. If it does show that in the forecast, be sure to secure your tent by staking it down properly.
