Colorado's largest natural glacial lakes, located along the continental divide trail, and at the foot of the highest mountain of the entire Rocky Mountain range, Twin Lakes is an absolute must see place! Enjoy any one of the numerous trails leading from this area, take part in water activities such as fishing, kayaking, and boating, or just visit for some amazing star gazing while staying at the comfortable camping areas.
This area is located on the other side of Independence Pass from Aspen, which is only accessible during the summer, or can be reached year-round via Leadville, which is about 20 miles away along Highway 24. From Twin Lakes Village drive approximately 1.5 miles east on Highway 82 and take the exit for White Star Campground. There are a few other campsites in the area such as Dexter campground, and Twin Lakes campground, but White Star Campground is by far the best one since it is right on the lake with dozens of tent and/or RV campsites. Drinking water and toilets are located around the campground.
