About this place

Added by Jennifer Broome

Explore a hidden gem on Rabbit Ears Pass. Little paradise for bird watchers and wildflower enthusiasts. Fishing, camping, hiking and biking.

Dumont Lake is 22 miles southeast of Steamboat Springs, just minutes off of U.S. Highway 40 (Rabbit Ears Pass). As you turn off the highway and drive down the dirt road, you get great views of Rabbit Ears Peak.

The campground is made up of 14 sites. Almost all of the sites have a view of the meadow surrounding the lake. There are also 3 restrooms and hand-pumped water available. You can make your campsite reservation on recreation.gov

You can fish, boat, hike, backpack, and mountain bike at or near the lake. Dumont Lake is restricted to electric motors or hand propelled boats only. You can spin or fly fish in the lake and streams. There is access to hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking on nearby dirt roads and trails.

Since the area borders on the Continental Divide and sits on top of the Park Range, the views of mountain ranges are spectacular, especially in late summer with all of the wildflowers.

Easy Access To Steamboat
This is a fantastic campground for either a quick overnight or a longer stay. We were there recently for a two-day mountain bike trip ...
