When you're in Capurgana, can you see the stretch of white sand when looking to your right? Grab your shoes and water and let's go!
This is a fairly easy hike, the biggest hurdle is the coastal heat and humidity, so make sure to bring sufficient water!
The hike starts at the soccer field in Capurgana. Follow the left side of the air strip and turn left after about 200m, just before the orange house. The trail will follow parallel to the ocean in shaded wooden path. There is also an alternative way that goes right along the beach, but be aware that a good portion of the path leads you across dead and very sharp corals.
No matter which route you pick, depending on the season you might need to cross several rivers. The deepest one was knee deep, so take this into consideration when choosing your foot wear. I met a couple of locals on the way that were wearing flip flops and crocs, so that seems to be an option too.
After approximately 45min you will hit two hills that you need to pass. On the top of the second hill you will see the white beach just at the bottom of it. You made it! There are a couple of abandoned looking hotels on this stretch. They don't seem to be open any time of the year, so bring some snacks and drinks to enjoy along with a great view and the sand on your feet.
