About this place

Witness stunning views of the Sierra Nevadas de Santa Marta and experience the sunrise of a lifetime.

The hike begins at approximately 632m and climbs up to 2,400m in the Sierra Nevadas de Santa Marta. As with most hikes in Colombia, the trail is a rough and rocky road. It's a steady uphill through many different types of environments. Along the way you'll come across dense rainforest, waterfalls, large palm trees, eventually arriving in pine forests.

The exact location is known as Moncho's place. You'll know you've arrived when you come across a large antenna and a concrete shack. It is approximately $15USD (depending on your bartering skills) a night to pitch a tent in an open space. Chill out, enjoy the views and if you can find dry wood, make a fire!

In order to witness the sunrise, make sure to wake up at 4:30am. It's early but so worth it. It'll take your breath away.
