About this place

Added by Friederike Kosche

However tight your travel schedule is, make sure you save a couple of hours for this mountain ridge hike with gorgeous views into two valleys and a waterfall.

The layout of this hike reminds of Zion's famous Angels landing. It is much shorter, but won't disappoint you in terms of views.

The start of the hike is approximately 3 miles out of the town of Santa Sofia. There is no sign for the hike at the starting point, just a sign that says private property. Give it a couple of minutes and the land owner will appear and ask you for 3000 COP per person (1 US Dollar) to pass his land.

Hop over the fence and you will see the hike right in front of you along the ridge of the mountain. There is one part where this ridge becomes very narrow (hence the name of Angel's Step), just be cautious when passing it. At the end of the mountain ridge, the trail will lead you down to the waterfall, a great place to sit down and glance down into the Valley,

You return exactly the same way that you came. On the way back have a look on your right side and you will see several smaller paths leading off the trail and down the side if the mountain. There are various possibilities to hike down to different parts of the waterfall that shouldn't be missed.
