About this place

Added by Friederike Kosche

Striking views, great hiking possibilities and access to one of the best coffees in the world are just a couple of aspens why you should definitely spend a couple of days exploring this valley

At the first glance it looks like one big jungle, but the more you walk through it, the more you see the system, different parcels for different coffee plants and a number of different plants, fruits and vegetables.

The coffee Valley between Salento and Armenia features so many different activities that it is easy to stay here for several days. There are different options for accommodation in this area, personally I can recommend the Okomi Eco Hostal managed by Amelie and Fredy. It's a great base for strolling along the river, hiking and mountain biking tours in The Valley, horseback riding in the outback or if you want to take on the challenge and climb the 5215m high Nevado del Tolima

You should definitely dedicate one day diving into the coffee Zoroaster with Jaime, a local coffee farmer that will introduce you to his personal jungle of coffee beans and let you pick, dry, peel, roast and brew your own coffee. It is not the most adventurous activity, but doesn't hanging in his hammocks sipping your self produced cup of coffee like a good alternative for a day?
