The Ottawa River provides both beginner waves and rapids, as well as world class whitewater, as it has hosted the Freestyle Kayaking World Championships. Kayaking the Ottawa is an amazing experience for beginner to expert paddlers.
Starting at a put in of your choice, you can descend the entire Ottawa River, several rapids and a choice of two channels, or you can simply play in a rapid of your choice for the day. There are numerous opportunities for fun - from beginner waves and smaller rapids on the Middle Channel, to world class boat surfing on the Main. The Ottawa River can be used from the moment ice comes off until the moment it begins to return, but the preferred season is summer, because of the warm river water. After a day of paddling, one may visit the Whitewater Brewery just down the road, for delicious food and famous craft beer.
