Explore hidden and secluded beaches and take in amazing views of the National Park from the water.
If you have your own equipment and are experienced, start paddling west from North Rustico Beach on the far eastern part of PEI National Park - Cavendish.
If you don't have your own gear, you'll have to hop on a tour with Outside Expeditions departing from North Rustico Harbour. They're the only service available, but luckily super friendly and knowledgeable.
In either case, it is best to check the weather for wind and weather predictions as weather on this coast can change quickly, as any of the lobster fishermen will tell you.
It's only a few kilometres to get to the red cliff coastline, and 11km (6.8 mi) one way if you want to make it to the sand dunes of Cavendish.
Expect to take at least 2 hours (one way) from North Rustico to the Ocean Lookoff viewpoint, and an additional 1.5 (one way) if you are planning to reach the sandy dunes past Cavendish campground.
Pack some snacks and pull up to one of the sandy beaches that can be found beneath the crumbling sandstone cliffs.
If you are looking for a good meal before or afterward, head to the Glasgow Glen Farm and grab a lobster a 'blouda' (blue cheese with gouda) pizza.
