About this place

Added by Alex

Kayak the beautiful Ganges harbour.

Salt spring island has plenty of amazing put in points for an afternoon of sea kayaking, but the ganges harbour is sheltered and easily accessible.

For the put in points you have two options: The salt spring marina or churchill beach. Churchill beach would be the easier of the two with the added benefit of not having to paddle through the marina. From town follow lower ganges road, turn right on upper ganges road, then another right on churchill road follow all the way to the end and park on the side of the road.

The most popular destination for this paddle is Chocolate beach on Third sister island. A beautiful white shell beach at the end of the chain. Please keep in mind that all of the islands are privately owned and Chocolate beach is the only landing option. This casual paddle will take an average paddler about an hour to the beach and an hour back. Make sure to schedule time to explore low tide on the islands and to take in the beautiful scenery.

The chain of island are as follows: Powder island, Goat island, Dead man island, First, Second and Third sister islands.

As with any expedition please use Leave no Trace policies. It is a privilege to be able to use this island not a right.
