If you're pressed for time and don't want to sacrifice great views, this is the spot to check out.
This is a great hike with varied terrain. From a flat meandering path to steep, scramble sections with chains and braided ropes. The must-see attraction on this trail is the thunder force of tumbling water heard throughout the day as you hike along a steep walled canyon.
You have the option of parking in the pullout just before the second bridge along the Squamish Valley road. The trial head is marked.
Initially, you'll follow the trail through a lush, moss-filled forest. Once you climb out of the forest, you'll climb up several steep sections. The chains and ropes are put in place to help hikers up the bluffs. Depending on your confidence level, you may not need to use ropes - there are plenty of hand and foot holds around.
To get to the High Falls, you'll come to a junction labelled 'viewpoint only no exit'.
The viewpoint makes a great spot for an extended break. If you look closely, you'll see canyoneering anchors above the falls.
From the viewpoint, you can backtrack to the main trail and follow it out to the High Falls Creek road (branch 200 of the Squamish Valley road); from here, you can turn left and follow the road back to where you parked.
