Hike to Deeks Lake

Begin the Deeks Lake trail at the Lions Bay parking lot (same entrance as the Howe Sound Crest Trail) just off of Highway 99 North. The pullout  is right before Porteau Cove Provincial Park. 

Begin by walking past the yellow gate and taking an immediate right into the trail where you will begin your journey up. The trail winds through the forest the entire way, with one pretty stellar view point on a bluff at about a third of the way up. Once at the top, the trail opens up to an impressive rock wall view above the lake. 

The trail is well marked, and travels upwards almost the whole way. Generally it is pretty gradual but there are certainly parts (closer to the end) that will have your thighs burning and lungs working. A few minutes into the trail you will be on an old logging road, keep your eyes peeled for the trail that veers off this road at about 2kms in - it is marked by a BC Parks signpost but if you aren't looking it can be missed and you can end up accidentally staying on the logging road. 

From there, just follow the signs and orange tags all the way to the lake. On your hike down toward the bottom, when you come across an alternate route to Hwy 99 with a warning of steep rock ahead, don’t go there. It’s almost impossible to hike down especially on a wet day.
