About this place
Located in the Seven Sisters wilderness area, this is an easy 4-mile hike on a scenic, well maintained trail that passes three small lakes with picnic sites and fishing.
The trailhead is located a few hundred yards from highway 16 on a relatively smooth gravel road. The turnoff is marked by a blue sign saying Watson Lakes Trail. From Terrace the turnoff is 33 miles east, and from Kitwanga Junction the turnoff is 23 miles west.
The first half of the hike is a steady uphill hike along switchbacks until you reach the first lake. There are plenty of great views of the the Skeena valley along the way. The trail is well maintained and easy to follow, with colored markers on the trees to lead the way. The first lake is a bit more scenic than the next two lakes, with a beautiful mountain peak in the background. The second half of the hike is more level and will give you a better chance to enjoy the scenery of the trail as it takes you through a beautiful rainforest.
From the trailhead to the last lake is about 600ft elevation gain in 2 miles. Easy enough for a family hike, and open enough at the first lake for some good camping, this adventure will not disappoint!
