About this place

Added by Emily Masse

if you like glaciers, glacial lakes, 360 degree views and short trails this hike is for you. This short, well maintained trail makes this beautiful hike accessible for almost anyone.

you start the loop by climbing the small set of stairs from the parking lot to the memorial for nurse Edith Cavell. Ahead of you the trail has many options, leading down to the flood plains, or up to the lake viewing area. This viewing platform provides you with a elevated view of the glacial lake, epic rock wall and upper glacier.

If you're lucky you might see an avalanche stream!

If you're like me and you prefer a closer look, a groomed trail leads from the viewing platform down to the lake. This area is usually tucked in the shade so remember to bring a jacket or sweater.

From the bottom you can walk around the lake to the glacial ice at the bottom for a very cool look. Here you can observe the different layers of an ice sheet.
