About this place

Added by Niki Pike

Mount Seymour is a local ski hill located only 15mins from downtown Vancouver on the North Shore. This mountain offers year-round activities such as hiking and camping in the spring-summer, and great snowshoeing, snowboarding and skiing in the Autumn/Winter/Spring months.Hiking to the first peak, also known as 'bump' gives you stunning views of the entire lower mainland all the way from Pitt Meadows, to Vancouver and beyond. From first peak you can continue to second, and third and ultimately summit Mount Seymour. In the winter, you can take the chair up to Brockton Point and then hike up and created your own jumps or "park" for snowboarding. and the summer you can apply for back country camping permits.

The elevation gain to first peak is approximately 451m and is about 9km.

There are several ways to get to the top, each trail is marked well. One way is to follow the ski run up to brockton point and then take the turn off to Mount Seymour. Do not follow the Elsay Lake trail as it's signifciantly more techinical and harder, and it will not take you to the peak. The trail is well marked with orange markers but they can be very difficult to see if there is deep snow.

Parking is free in the winter months, but will cost you $3 in the summer for all day parking.

Make sure to stop every now and then to enjoy the view, and stop at Mystery lake as it's a great alpine lake.
