Bowen Island is a fantastic day trip from Vancouver, just a short ferry ride away! The views of the Sunshine Coast from the top of Mount Gardner are lovely and the trail is generally not busy.
Mount Gardner is the highest point on Bowen Island. I love visiting Bowen. It is a 20 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay but feels a world’s away from the city.
I climbed to the top of Mount Gardner a few years ago during the summer, but had yet to do it in the winter. I was excited to see what adventures may ensue. More detailed trail directions can be found here: https://www.vancouvertrails.com/trails/mount-gardner/.
After hiking, grab a bite to eat before hopping back on the ferry. There are a few great options in "downtown" Bowen, including The Snug Cafe and Shika Provisions.
