About this place

Added by Jake Harris

Take a short walk to a 75 metre cascading waterfall and take in beautiful views of Buttle Lake. The falls can be slippery, so watch your step!

These beautiful falls are just a short and easy 500 metre stroll from the parking lot, making this one of the more family-friendly hikes in the area. Located at the end of the trail are the 75 metre cascading falls and spectacular views of Buttle Lake.

Located approximately 1 1/2 hours north of the Comox Valley, the trailhead starts at the south end of Buttle Lake along the Westmin Road. At the beginning of the trail is a clearly marked sign describing the history of the falls and surrounding park. The trail starts down a gently sloped, wide gravel path and eventually transitions to a winding trail through a lush forest. After following the forest trail for 10 minutes you come to a fork which directs you to two different sections of the falls. The trail on the left takes you to a small viewing platform while the right ends at large flat rocks alongside the river, providing an area to enjoy lunch while taking in the sounds and sites of the falls. It is best to avoid swimming, even though it is very tempting, as the under-current can be very strong and a large waterfall is located just 10 feet farther down the river.

A great place to grab some snacks before your trip to Myra Falls is a small local store called Steiner Bakery, located in Campbell River approximately 45 minutes from the trailhead.
